Where are you based from?

Quito, Ecuador

What do you do?

I run an education startup called LAB XXI, and I am a mother.

How did you get started?

With a very good friend, in one of the poorest neighbourhoods of my city. With a box of activities, a few markers, some drawing paper…we wanted to develop youth leadership skills. After that, we set up an office, made allies. Today we work in schools all over Ecuador, with a teacher training programme and a powerful social skills curriculum for teens.

What do you love most about what you do?

Being able to interact with people that are very different to me everyday. Kids, adults, teachers, staff… I love watching people interact, solve problems, discuss daily life struggles….there are powerful lessons in those everyday moments.

Where do you get your inspiration?

I’m inspired by other people, in particular by their talent. We find talent and potential where others are not looking for it. Helping teens find what they are good at is not only inspirational but a powerful way to help shape their futures.

What are some tips for other people to follow your path?

You don´t have to know you passion right away. Life is about experimenting different things and learning how your skills can be most valuable. So, try new things and always keep in mind that you have the potential to add value.
